Night Lights of Kuala Selangor Nature Park

MNS conducted a firefly survey along the visitor trails at the Kuala Selangor Nature Park in 2013. Three species of fireflies were sighted, namely, Pteroptyx valida, Colophotia sp and Pyrocoelia sp. Both the Colophotia and Pteroptyx fireflies congregate on display trees around the lake and Pyrocoelia or Green Ghost were often found along the main trail. 

Apart from the fireflies, we found starworms, closely related to the fireflies, glowing snails, glowing fungi and glowing zooplanktons (blue tears) in the lake at certain seasons.
